Angus King: Russia Investigation Far From Over

Independent U.S. Sen. Angus King of Maine says the Senate's Russia election probe could take most of the rest of this year.

King, appearing on NBC's Meet The Press on Sunday, said the Senate Intelligence Committee is far from being able to accuse, or clear, Trump campaign officials or the president of any wrongdoing.

"The collusion or cooperation aspect of the investigation is not over. And, as far as that goes, I'd say we're 20 percent into it, just to throw a number at it," he said. "A lot of people have said, 'When do you think you'll be done?' Maybe the end of the year. This is a very complex matter involving thousands of pages of intelligence documents, lots of witnesses; there's a lot of information yet to go."

King told host Chuck Todd it is clear the Russians tried to "screw around" with the U.S. election system. And he said it was really scary that Russians attempted to hack into state election systems.

He said the Senate will hold a hearing this week.
