Task Force Report Doesn't Propose Health-Care-For-All System

AUGUSTA, Maine - A Maine task force is calling on lawmakers to improve oversight over health reform efforts in the state. The Legislature's Task Force on Health Care Coverage for All recently released its report following months of meetings about what isn't working in Maine's health care system. The task force's mission was to design health care plans that provide health care coverage for all Maine residents.

The task force's final report instead offers several bills that lawmakers could take up when they return in January. The task force urges lawmakers to study prescription drug pricing, oversight over pharmacy benefit managers and the regulatory structure of the state's health insurance market.

The task force didn't debate or vote on voter-approved Medicaid expansion, which has been held up in an ongoing legal battle.
