BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) _ Acadia National Park Superintendent Sheridan Steele is going to step down at the end of October
Steele says a visit by President Barack Obama and his family and the recent opening of the Schoodic Woods Campground are among the highlights of his 12 year at the park on Mount Desert Island.
He tells WABI-TV (http://bit.ly/1VdxmdK) that his biggest concern is the park's popularity.
He says the biggest challenge facing Acadia is the growing number of visitors. He says park officials are working to get a handle on traffic congestion and parking problems.
Steele has worked in the National Park Service for 38 years at six different parks. He says he plans to travel and spend time with grandkids after his retirement.
