The Maine Center for Disease Control says the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state has increased to 616 Saturday. Over two-thirds of the total cases are from Cumberland and York counties.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 also increased overnight, up two to a total of 19.
One-hundred fourteen Mainers have been hospitalized with the disease, and 256 have recovered.
In a press release issued Saturday evening, the Maine CDC said that nine of the positive cases and one of the deaths are associated with the Maine Veterans’ Homes facility in Scarborough. They report that six staff members and three residents of the facility tested positive for COVID-19, and that one resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. The CDC is providing an additional supply of personal protective equipment to the facility.
These cases were already reflected in the numbers the CDC released Saturday morning.
