Cleanup Continues Under Sunny Skies After Weekend Storms

A series of thunderstorms that swept through northern New England over the weekend are gone, and the region is enjoying sunny weather. But residents are still mopping up.Violent storms knocked out power to hundreds across the region. In Maine, more than 1,000 homes and businesses lost electricity Sunday in the Central Maine Power territory. Even more lost electricity in thunderstorms the day before.

In Westbrook, Maine, emergency officials evacuated concertgoers from the Maine Savings Pavilion because of dangerous weather Saturday evening.

Strong gusts knocked down trees and tree limbs, and deluges of rain slowed traffic.

But the National Weather Service said great weather is ahead for the Fourth of July week.
