Feds: Mainers' Average Weekly Wages Were On The Rise In Early Days Of Pandemic

Government statistics out Wednesday show that the average weekly wage in Maine rose 4%, to $955, between March of 2019 to this past March. In Cumberland County, the only county in Maine large enough to be broken down in these federal numbers, wages rose 2.4%, to $1,133 a week, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

March included the early days of the pandemic, when the governor ordered most business establishments to close around mid-month.

The numbers indicate that employment in Cumberland County was just three-tenths of a percent lower over the same 12-month period.
