Flea Markets: Maine Draws Tourists and Locals To Its Many Varied Flea Markets for Bargains & Finds

https://www.flickr.com/photos/rexblog/

Flea markets are a huge draw in Maine, for tourists and locals alike -- especially during the summertime.

Maine is known as a flea market destination — a place to find items that have been hiding in attics and old barns for generations. A wide variety of flea markets statewide offer antiques, collectibles and just plain junk, and sometimes harbor treasures of significant value for the savvy shopper. We explore the range of flea markets in Maine, what they sell, who frequents them, what items of value can be found and how these markets are integral to the state's image and economy.

This show is part of Maine Calling’s ongoing focus on iconic slices of Maine life.
