Former Portland Developer Indicted On Wire And Securities Fraud Charges

Former Portland developer Michael Liberty and an associate were indicted yesterday in federal court in Portland on wire and securities fraud charges in connection with an investment scheme.

The Portland Press-Herald reports that Liberty was also charged with money laundering. He could face up to 20 years in prison on the wire and securities fraud charges and up to 10 years on the money laundering charge.

Liberty is from Gray, and was a major property developer in Portland in the 1980s, but now lives in Florida.
