Gas prices in Maine were down a little this week, during what GasBuddy analyst Patrick DeHahn says has been an unusually stable summer."It's been a relatively remarkable summer in that gas prices have fluctuated very minimally over the course of the summer, and that's something we're not really used to," DeHahn says.
The average price per gallon in Maine last week was about 2.5 cents lower than last week - about the same as last month at this time - and about 50 cents more a gallon than at this time last year.
DeHahn says oil prices are now beginning to drop slightly. "The slight drop in oil is likely opening the door for gas prices to drop and they may continue to do so - at least gently - over the next week."
And he says barring major geopolitical events drivers can expect that gas prices will likely remain stable or keep falling slightly, through to Labor Day Weekend.
