Inmate Death Confirmed at State Prison

A prisoner has died at the Maine State Prison in Warren. In a press release, the Department of Corrections confirmed that Jeremiah F. Young, age 48, died at approximately 8:45 a.m., April 14, 2018.

The cause of death was not immediately announced. Consistent with the department’s policy and Attorney General’s Office protocols, the State Police and Medical Examiner were notified.

Young began serving his sentences in September of 2015. He had been sentenced for multiple offenses, including Probation Revocations for Robbery, Misuse of Identification and theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer. Young's longest sentence was 4 years, 182 days.

This is the second inmate deathat the prison in one week. Gregory E. Leeman, age 57, was found dead in his cell April 8. An autopsy is planned for Leeman, the Maine Department of Public Safety said there is nothing to indicate anything suspicious.
