Maine Gov. Janet Mills is quarantining after likely exposure to COVID-19.
According to a statement from her office, Mills has no symptoms, but was in close contact with a member of her protection unit, who later developed symptoms and is considered a probable COVID-19 case by the Maine CDC pending test results.
The governor’s office says Mills and the protection officer were together and masked in a closed car for about 10 minutes on Saturday. The governor will take a COVID-19 test on Thursday and her office says they’ll announce the results.
Because she is quarantining, Mills will not swear in members of the new Legislature on Wednesday. Acting chief justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court Andrew Mead will administer the oath instead.
