2nd District Representative-elect Jared Golden says he is in the midst of hiring staff and setting up regional offices he prepares to join U.S. Congress in January.
Golden says he is screening resumes, looking at possible regional office space and planning to spend some time in Washington, which will include orientation for incoming members of Congress. He says it’s important to get the right staff, and so he will not rush the process.
Golden says he has started discussions about committee assignments and hopes to get a seat on the House Armed Services Committee.
“I have expressed an interest in Armed Services, where I would certainly hope to be on the Sea Power Sub-committee which has great importance to the state.”
He also says he plans to spend as much time in the district as he can.
“I hope to make myself one of the most accessible members of the delegation and of Congress,” he says. “Getting back to a hard focus on being present in the district, holding town halls.”
