AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine Attorney General Janet Mills and some lawmakers are raising concerns about Gov. Paul LePage's delay in signing off on a pay boost for assistant attorneys general.
The state budget called for a four percent raise for Maine's district attorneys, assistant district attorneys and assistant attorneys general.
Mills said Tuesday that LePage still hasn't authorized that raise for assistant attorneys general. She said they also haven't received a one percent boost that all state employees were supposed to get, starting July 1.
Lawmakers on the Appropriations Committee said Tuesday that they would send a letter to LePage seeking an explanation.
Mills, a Democrat who often clashes with LePage, said she hasn't received an explanation from the Republican governor's office. His office did not respond to multiple requests for comment Tuesday.
