Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey has joined a coalition of colleagues in other states that is seeking to protect access to abortions. Nearly two dozen attorneys general filed an amicus brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a lower court's decision to uphold a law that requires abortion providers in Louisiana to maintain admitting privileges at a local hospital.
The amicus brief says that if the law stands, just two physicians in Louisiana could provide abortion services.
In a press release, Frey says he joined the coalition to ensure the availability of legal, safe, abortion services.
