Maine Assisters Praise Smoother Enrollment Session

By Alanna Durkin, The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine - People helping to enroll Maine residents in health insurance plans on the exchange say demand appears to be high and that the process is going smoothly, thanks to fewer glitches plaguing the federally-run website.

Assisters are hopeful that they will make strides over the next three months in providing coverage to the tens of thousands of people in the state who remain uninsured.

Erin Munson, an outreach and enrollment specialist with the Penobscot Community Health Center in Old Town, said she's hearing mostly from those looking to buy insurance on the exchange for the first time.

Others say that some consumers who previously bought plans have struggled to log into the system because they forgot their password, but that overall, it has been a completely different experience than last year.
