Nineteen new cases of COVID-19 are being reported by the Maine Center for Disease Control.
The number of deaths is unchanged at 126. Of the total 4,089 cases that have been reported in the state, 3,592 people have recovered and 371 are active. In total, 928 cases have been detected among health care workers.
Three-hundred ninety five people have been hospitalized in Maine, in total. Of those, 11 people are currently hospitalized, five in critical care and three on ventilators.
At a press conference on Thursday, Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah said Maine has conducted approximately 20,000-21,000 tests per week, or about 3,000 per day, a third of which had been conducted at the state's lab. He said the CDC hopes to put its mobile lab into service "very soon," in the fall.
Shah said a handful of testing milestones were reached in the last day — an all-time high in the number of diagnostic tests performed, at 3,175, and all-time lows in the 24-hour positivity rate, at 0.63%, and 7-day positivity rate, at .65%. Shah said that latter number compared with a national average of 8%.
Shah also noted that the press conference marked the 100th time he had briefed the public on the coronavirus pandemic.
