The Maine Center for Disease Control Sunday is reporting an additional 23 cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Twenty-two new cases were reported, according to data on the CDC website. Some previously reported cases were reclassifed, making a net increase of 23 cases.

No new deaths were reported Sunday. There have been 132 related deaths in the state.

There are now 470 active cases of the disease in the state. Eight people with COVID-19 are being hospitalized. Two of those individuals are in critical care, and one is on a ventilator.

Saturday a COVID-19 outbreak at the Calvary Baptist Church in Sanford was reported. Five individuals associated with the church tested positive for the coronavirus. The Maine CDC says a pastor from the Sanford church officiated the Aug. 7 Millinocket-area weddingthat has resulted in at least 123 cases of COVID-19 and has led to secondary outbreaks. But the Center has not confirmed that the Sanford Church outbreak is linked to the wedding, and is continuing an investigation.
