Maine CDC Reports 7 New Cases Of COVID-19

The Maine Center for Disease Control Monday is reporting seven additional cases of COVID-19, making the total number of cases since the pandemic's onset 4,049. There are now 387 active cases of COVID-19 in Maine, according to the state CDC. 

Fourteen new cases were reported Monday. Some cases previously categorized as positive were reclassified, making a net increase of seven cases.

No new deaths were reported Monday. That number stands at 125.

According to data on the CDC website, eight people are being hospitalized with the disease. Three of those individuals are in critical care, and one person is on a ventilator.

In a tweet, CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah said that the state's seven-day positivity rate is 0.74 percent, a drop from the all-time low reported a week ago of 0.87 percent. The national positivity rate is 7.5 percent.

Shah also said that the number of tests conducted in Maine over the past month has increased by 20 percent.

The state CDC's next coronavirus briefing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11.
