Maine CDC Reports Another COVID-19 Death, 30 More Cases In The State

Another person with COVID-19 has died, a man in his 80s from Somerset County. This brings the state's total number of deaths related to the novel coronavirus to 139. 

This is the eighth death linked to an August 7 Millinocket-area wedding.

Additionally, the Maine Center for Disease Control is reporting 30 more cases of COVID-19 Saturday.

The Maine CDC is reporting 550 active cases in the state, and Maine has seen a total of 5035 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Eleven people with COVID-19 are currently being hospitalized. Five are in critical care and one is on a ventilator.

Ten staff members at Northern Light Inland Hospital in Waterville are in quarantine after they were exposed to a patient who turned out to have COVID-19. The hospital made the announcement Friday night on its website. Gavin Ducker, co-president of Northern Light, wrote that they're working to assess how the exposures occurred and will keep the community informed.
