Maine's tally of COVID-19 cases since the pandemic hit the state has grown to 5,171, an increase of 25 since Tuesday.  The death toll remained unchanged at 140.That's according to new figures the Maine Center for Disease Control posted Wednesday. They indicate that about half of the new cases arose in York County, where the state is investigating several outbreaks.

The total number of Mainers hospitalized throughout the pandemic now totals 441, one less than yesterday. The reason for the drop is not clear.
