Maine GOP Congressman Continues to Refuse to Talk About Trump

AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine 2nd District Republican Rep. Bruce Poliquin was at the New Balance shoe plant in Skowhegan today on what he called an official congressional visit.

But he toured three floors of the factory in what looked like a campaign visit. He addressed the workers assembled outside the plant on trade and the importance of his legislation to make sure that the U.S. military buys American-made footwear.

But he refused to answer questions about Donald Trump. “I am not getting involved in any of this media circus surrounding this presidential election. I am working for these people and I am so proud to do it.”
Over the weekend, Poliquin had tweeted that Trump’s comments about women were repulsive and that there is no place in Maine or America for such demeaning language.

Poliquin is currently defending his congressional seat in a second match-up with Democrat Emily Cain.
