Maine Lawmaker to Bring Elder Issues to D.C. Conference

House Speaker Mark Eves is attending the White House Conference on Aging Monday to provide Maine's perspective on its growing number of seniors.

"They are interested to hear what we have been able to do here in Maine, through this legislative session and over the last couple of years." says Eves. "So, very excited to go to the White House to spotlight Maine and what we are doing as a state."
Maine has the oldest population of any state and Eves says there are efforts underway in Maine to try and address the issues facing seniors.

"The way this is going to happen is through the state level and through community based initiatives." says Eves. Among these issues, he says, are those of affordable housing for elders and making it possible for seniors to 'age-in-place'.
