AUGUSTA, Maine - Democrats and some Republicans have united to reject the bulk of Gov. Paul LePage's welfare reform initiatives. Many of the proposals are positioned to die between the two bodies in the closing hours of the legislative session.
Democrats in the House defeated all of the governor's proposals. And, while many were upheld in the Senate where Republicans hold a majority, there is little hope of any realistic compromise.
