Maine is reporting another death as the state's tally of COVID-19 cases since the pandemic's onset grew overnight to 4,941, a net increase of 23 cases since Tuesday. That's according to new figures the Maine Center for Disease Control posted Wednesday on its website. The death reported Wednesday was a woman in her 80s from Somerset County. On Tuesday, Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah said the most recent of six deaths at the Maplecrest Rehabilitation facility in Madison would be counted in Wednesday's tally.

Those six deaths are among seven in Maine that are linked to an August 7 wedding and reception in Millinocket, which has led to more than 170 cases of COVID-19 in Maine so far, state health officials say.

Meanwhile, the Maine CDC says that 4,307 Mainers have recovered from the virus, an increase of 27 since Tuesday.

A total of 433 people have been hospitalized at some point during their illness.  That's an increase of one since Tuesday.  The CDC has not yet updated the number of people currently hospitalized, but as of Tuesday the total was 10, with five people in intensive care and no COVID-19 patients on ventilators.

The Maine CDC's next briefing on the virus is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020.
