BUCKSPORT, Maine - A Maine woman who went missing for eight days has been charged with setting her house on fire.Authorities say 56-year-old Aza Jerome Vasylyk, of Bucksport, walked away from her burning home on Nov. 11. She was charged with arson after she was found Tuesday in Orland.
The Maine fire marshal's office says the fire caused $50,000 in damage. Another fire was set in a shed on the property.
Police say Vasylyk's husband, Timothy Jerome, was arrested because he ignored orders to stay out of the house. His daughter, Samantha Bishop, tells Bangor Daily News he was just looking for his wife and had no criminal intent.
Vasylyk was held on $1,000 cash bail Wednesday at the Hancock County Jail. It was unclear if she had a lawyer.
