The Maine Center for Disease Control is reporting a net rise overnight of 21 COVID-19 cases, bringing the number logged since the pandemic's onset to 4,356. That's according to new figures on the CDC's website, which indicate that the number of deaths remained unchanged at 131.A total of 3,762 Mainers have recovered from the virus, leaving 463 active cases that the state is tracking, seven fewer than Sunday.
The number of people hospitalized since the pandemic began rose overnight by one to 409. Six are currently hospitalized, five of them in intensive care. One person is on a ventilator.
The Maine CDC's next briefing on the coronavirus is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25.
