AUGUSTA, Maine — Democrat Mike Michaud has raised $464,253 and independent Eliot Cutler $389,467 in the latest reporting period for gubernatorial candidates in Maine.
The reports filed with the Maine Commission of Governmental Ethics and Election Practices on Tuesday cover contributions and expenditures from Jan. 1 through April 22.
All told, Michaud's contributions to date total $1.47 million in cash and in-kind contributions and he had $813,499 cash on hand at the end of the period. Cutler's campaign has brought in $1.2 million, including a pair of $200,000 loans from the candidate. Cutler's campaign had nearly $110,000 of cash on hand.
Both are trying to unseat Republican Gov. Paul LePage, who hadn't filed his report by late Tuesday afternoon. His campaign says he's been focused on governing, not raising money.
