Democratic presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg is in Maine on Monday to meet with local supporters and open his first campaign office in the state. He is being accompanied by former U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud of Maine, who endorsed the billionaire candidate last week.
Mary Jones was among the hundreds who lined up outside Bloomberg’s new campaign office in Scarborough to hear him speak. She says she’s undecided, but desperately wants to see President Donald Trump defeated in November.
Bloomberg’s deep pockets, she says, should give him an advantage.
“And he probably can afford to hire great consultants and run a good operation. I think it’s whether or not he can start showing in some polling fast enough to really be a player in the primary,” Jones says.
The Iowa caucuses are scheduled to take place Feb. 3.
