New Sharon Teen Indicted on Burglary Charge

FARMINGTON, Maine — A New Sharon teen has been indicted by a Franklin County grand jury for allegedly stealing $50,000 worth of cash and jewelry from a Wilton home.

Eighteen-year-old Brian Durrell was indicted this week on charges of burglary and theft following his arrest in May.

Police Chief Heidi Wilcox tells the Sun Journal a juvenile has also been arrested.

The homeowners reported the loss April 30 after returning from vacation.

Police checked a local jewelry store and discovered some of the items were sold there by the teens. The rest of the jewelry was pawned and sold in Bangor. The teens received about $1,000 for what they sold. Durrell was in high school at the time of his arrest. It could not be determined if he has a lawyer.
