WARREN, Maine - Prison officials say a Maine man convicted in 2005 for killing his wife has died at a state prison.

Maine Department of Corrections Commissioner Randall Liberty says 65-year-old Carl Dyer died late Thursday at the Maine State Prison in Warren. The Portland Press Herald reports officials did not specify the cause of death, adding that Maine State Police and the Maine Attorney General's Office have been notified.

Officials say the death is not considered suspicious.

Dyer was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2005 after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of his wife, Rosemary Dyer. He was scheduled for release in May 2022.
