Officials: Suspect Shot And Killed Friday By Sheriff's Deputy Was A Teenager

The Maine attorney general’s office has identified the teenager killed during an armed confrontation with a sheriff’s deputy in Limerick on Friday night.

A spokesperson for the Maine Attorney General’s office, Marc Malon, says Christopher Camacho, 16, died after being shot by York County Deputy Sheriff Robert Carr.

“The Office of the Attorney General is investigating the incident, as we do with all officer-involved uses of deadly force,” he says.

The York County Sheriff’s Office has said Carr was responding to a report of a burglary at the Dollar General in Limerick. Maine’s chief medical examiner determined Camacho died of a single gunshot wound.

Camacho was a Massabesic High School student. In a Facebook post, RSU 57 says counselors and staff will be available at Massabesic schools when students return from holiday recess on Jan. 2.
