WESTBROOK, Maine - A company based in a low-income apartment building is attempting to halt a new supermarket development in Maine.Westbrook Property Holding LLC has sued the city of Westbrook and the development company behind the complex in a bid to overturn municipal approval of a shopping center. The Portland Press Herald reports the limited liability company was formed less than four months ago and is based in a small apartment about a mile from the development site.
The company accuses Westbrook's Zoning Board of violating ordinances and due-process. City Manager Jerre Bryant says the city has no comment until it is clear who is behind the entity.
