Personal Income Rose All Over Maine Last Year

Mainer's personal income grew in 2018, but nowhere faster than in Knox County. The federal Bureau of Economic Affairs reported Thursday that the personal income of residents in the Midcoast county grew by 5.9 percent.

Personal income includes wages, interest and dividend payments, and money people receive in government benefits.

For the state as a whole, personal income rose by 5 percent in 2018 over 2017. The county with the slowest growth in personal income was Somerset County, up just 3.1 percent from 2017 to 2018.

Cumberland County had the second highest percentage increase in personal income, 5.4 percent, followed close behind by Waldo County. Sagadahoc and Penobscot County rounded out the top five.
