Portland Jetport Sees Increase In Flights, And A New Seasonal Service

Commercial flights to and from the Portland International Jetport are slowly increasing. Director Paul Bradbury says the airport is even seeing a new seasonal service, by American Airlines to Dallas. And he says low-cost carrier Sun Country will begin flying to Minneapolis Thursday. "They had no obligation under CARES Act funding or otherwise, but the advance bookings were some of the best they were seeing in their service," Bradbury says. "So we were very pleased."

Bradbury says passenger traffic is also rising slowly, but is still 83 percent below last year at this time. He says arriving passengers see numerous signs around the jetport about the state's quarantine policy.

"There's even a massive sign as you leave the airport on the roadway saying ‘14-day quarantine in effect,’" he says. "In the building, at the exits and coming out we do have the sign that is right in the governor's order;  there are many signs throughout the airport."

Bradbury also suggests the airport might eventually set up a testing area so people from out of state could meet testing requirements before leaving the airport.
