PORTLAND, Maine - Portland Police say a suspicious package left outside Planned Parenthood in downtown Portland poses no threat.
Portland Police closed off the street after the package was reported at around 1:00 pm today. The department deployed its explosive detection unit to X-ray and hand search the item.
At a news conference, Chief Mike Sauschuck says the camouflage box included painting materials. "So, at this point, we'll be continuing our follow-up investigation to see why it was dropped off and who, in fact, may have been expecting it."
Sauschuck says he does not believe the incident was a hoax.
