Portland Sea Dogs President Charlie Eshbach Stepping Down

Portland Sea Dogs President Charlie Eshbach is stepping down. Eshbach announced today that he'll become a senior advisor for the team after 25 seasons heading the Double-A franchise.

Geoff Iacuessa, the team's current vice president and general manager will take over Eshbach's duties, the team says in a press release issued Monday.

"Charlie was employee #1 at the Portland Sea Dogs and the best hire my father could have made," says team chairman Bill Burke in the release. "He has led this franchise with vision and high integrity and his hard work and good humor have been invaluable to all of us."

Eshback was originally hired in 1992 by Bill Burke's father, Dan Burke, the team's owner.

Eshbach's replacement, Geoff Iacuessa, started with the Sea Dogs in 2001 as an intern, rising to become its executive vice president and general manager in 2010.

"We are very fortunate to have someone of Geoff's caliber ready to step into Charlie's big shoes," says the team's treasurer, Sally McNamara. "He's the perfect executive to lead us into our next 25 seasons."
