Rabies in Maine: Prevention & Treatment

Wildlife Services rabies biologists take a tissue sample from an anesthetized raccoon in 2010. The test will determine whether or not this animal ingested enough rabies vaccine to be protected.

There have been many reports of rabid animals in Maine recently. We’ll learn just what rabies is, whether it’s on the rise and what can be done to keep family — especially the four-legged variety — safe when outdoors.
