LEWISTON, Maine - A retired Air Force general plans to seek the Democratic nomination to challenge Republican Sen. Susan Collins. The Sun Journal reports that retired Maj. Gen. Jonathan "Tracer'' Treacy, of Oxford, filed his paperwork to run. He said he has ``a lot of homework to do'' before making a formal announcement.
Treacy, who piloted jet fighters, said he once admired Collins but soured on her after her votes for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a $1.5 trillion tax cut that added to the deficit.
Treacy joins state House Speaker Sara Gideon of Freeport, lobbyist Betsy Sweet of Hallowell and Saco lawyer Bre Kidman in the Democratic field.
