Robert Indiana's Caretaker Sues For Cost Of Legal Defense

ROCKLAND, Maine - The caretaker accused in a lawsuit of isolating pop artist Robert Indiana before his death is suing Indiana's estate for $2 million to cover his legal fees. Jamie Thomas worked for Indiana for years and serves on the Star of Hope foundation that aims to transform Indiana's island home into a museum to display his work.

But Thomas and another man are accused in a federal lawsuit filed in New York of making unauthorized reproductions of Indiana's work.

Thomas filed his lawsuit on Friday.

Indiana died May 19, 2018, at the age of 89 in Vinalhaven Island. The estate is valued at about $66 million - virtually all of it artwork.
