The Maine Department of Corrections confirmed that a second inmate has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a press release Friday, the DOC said a prisoner in his 30s at Maine Correctional Center in Windham had tested positive. The DOC reports that the inmate has not required hospitalization, and that he is being kept in isolation.
May 19 a prisoner tested positive for the disease, and universal testing began at the facility.
More than 700 prisoners, staff and vendors have been tested since. The Department has also initiated contact tracing protocols, in accordance with the Maine Center for Disease Control.
