The city of Portland is getting a new police chief, and he comes from right next door.
In a press release, the city announced that South Portland Police Lieutenant Frank Clark will take control of Maine’s largest municipal force in September, ending a search that began late last year after Chief Michael Sauschuck was chosen to serve as public safety commissioner.
Clark has been with the South Portland Police Department since 1988 and has served in a number of capacities. He was Acting Police Chief in 2014.
As Portland’s Police Chief, Clark will earn just under $130,000 a year.
