Students are returning to campus at Colby College in Waterville.

Rather than having a traditional "move in day," students have been arriving in waves throughout the weekend and will continue to arrive through Monday afternoon.

This year, the reception area includes symptom screening and testing for COVID-19 upon arrival. After these steps, students must quarantine while they await results.

School officials said Sunday that tests are being turned around in 24 hours or less.

A host of health and safety guidelines have been implemented in response to the coronavirus pandemic, such as limits to the number of people who can accompany a student on campus, with only students allowed to enter dorm buildings. Also, students are being asked to bring only essential items with them to lessen the risk that the virus might be carried by personal belongings.

Classes are set to begin on Wednesday.
