Nearly 79,000 Mainers are without power this morning after the remnants of tropical storm Isaias roared through the state overnight.
As of about 6 o'clock Wednesday morning, Central Maine Power was reporting more than 78,000 customers without power. Further north in Versant Power's territory, another 383 homes and businesses were in the dark.
By 2:10 p.m., CMP outages were down to 42,661, and Versant's to just 48.
Isiais made landfall in North Carolina as a hurricane, and was downgraded to a tropical storm as it roared up the East Coast, knocking down trees and power lines and flooding roads.
The storm passed through quickly and sunny skies are forecast Wednesday for much of Maine.
