About 3,700 homes and businesses are still without electric service as of about 11 o'clock this morning in the wake of high winds Saturday. Gusts were as strong as 50 or 60 miles per hour, chasing the heavy rain that had soaked the state from Friday into Saturday. The wind blew tree limbs - and whole trees - onto power lines.
Central Maine Power says its crews are still working today to clear about 2,000 outages, the greatest number in Franklin County; Emera Maine has about 1,700 customers still without power.
