Two Crashes Bring Season's Snowmobile Fatalities to Five

NORWAY, Maine- Maine has seen its fourth and fifth snowmobile fatalities of the season, with two separate crashes in western Maine.
Gracie Herrick Onofrio, age 52 of Norway, was killed late Saturday afternoon when her snowmobile struck the berm of a plowed pathway while she was riding on Pennesseewassee Lake in Norway. Onofrio was ejected from the machine and struck by another snowmobile. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Later the same night, shortly before 11:00 pm,  17 year old Troy Marden of Amesbury, Massachusetts was killed when he failed to negotiate a corner while riding on Thompson Lake in Poland. 

Marden also struck a snowbank and was ejected from his machine. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Maine Warden Service, Marden's death is the fifth snowmobile fatality of the season.

Both incidents are being investigated by the Warden Service.
