Unemployment rates fell during the spring in Maine's three major urban areas. That's according to figures out today from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
They show that Bangor's jobless rate in May fell to 3.1%, down from 3.8% in March. In the Lewiston-Auburn area, unemployment fell to 3.1%, from 3.7% in March.
In the Portland-South Portland region, the jobless rate fell to 2.6% in May from 3% in March.
In New Hampshire, unemployment fell to 2.2% in Portsmouth and Durham, and held steady at 2.3% in Manchester.
