INDIAN TOWNSHIP, Maine (AP) _ The Passamaquoddy Indian Township Reservation's annual celebration of American Indian culture is getting under way in northeastern Maine.
The Indian Day Celebration Weekend is taking place in Indian Township on Saturday and Sunday. The festival celebrates Passamaquoddy arts and culture. It will include a Wabanaki market, dancing and demonstrations. A spokesman for the tribe says the event is open to the general public.
The event is taking place on the Indian Township Tribal Government Grounds off of Kennebasis Road in Indian Township. The township is located near the Canadian border in Washington County.
