The region’s commercial fishing industries and conservationists are anxiously awaiting President Donald Trump’s planned roundtable with fishermen at 2 p.m. today in Maine.

He is expected to make an announcement regarding the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument, a 4,900-square-mile area in the Atlantic. President Barack Obama created the underwater preserve, restricting fishing in an area scientist say is a hotbed of biological activity, but which the fishing industry says can still be safely fished.
