HEBRON, Maine (AP) _ The fourth annual Redneck games are scheduled to start in Hebron later this month.
The event featuring the mud run, bobbing for pigs' feet, toilet seat horseshoes and greased watermelon race, is set to start July 31 and end Aug. 3 at organizer Harold Brooks' property.
Thanks to some national media attention, the event has grown from humble beginnings and Brooks tells the Sun Journal he expects several thousand guests this year. In addition to the games, the event features live music and a pig roast.
Originally dubbed the Redneck Olympics, the games are now known as the Redneck Blank after the real Olympics threatened to sue.
Brooks says being a redneck has nothing to do with income, job description, or origin, but is more about fun and friendship.
