Legionnaire's disease

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention says tests indicate chlorine eliminated the bacteria responsible for Legionnaires' disease from the Orono-Veazie Water District.

As part of its investigation into a cluster of Legionnaires' disease cases in the greater Bangor area, the Maine Center for Disease Control has found detectable levels of the bacteria Legionella in the Orono-Veazie water district.

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention says it's investigating six cases of Legionnaires' disease that have cropped up in the greater Bangor area.  One person who became ill has died, but officials say they've haven't confirmed that the death is a result of the Legionella bacteria, which causes the illness.
